Joe does a fantastic job with this one- it's' a hell of a story and I had a hard time putting it down. It's fiction but based on an actual event- a little google work will get you the details on the real "Ken Richman" and what he's up to now (still mlm)Anyone who has been tempted to sign up for a MLM scheme needs to read this- it provides a deep insight into the reality of what you're getting yourself into. Joe's writing style is great, you really feel the emotions he was going through during this crazy time.
Cannot recommend this one enough! Go Diamond!!

Tony DiBona was "That Guy;" the one single young man to prove to all the others that they, too, could be fabulously successful in the world of multi-level marketing, building a "downline" that would produce beyond his wildest dreams and make him the favorite of Ken Richman and the other "Pins" of AmericanMade. But unseen to the others, while Tony worked hard and could fire up a room with his oratory skills, being part of the "in" crowd carried serious drawbacks, such as being so close to the man at the top of the pyramid, he lost perspective and even control over his own life. Whom he could, and couldn't marry, how to spend his good fortune all had to meet with the approval of the boss. Eventually, the gig is up, the chips fall where they will and Tony has to choose whether or not to let betrayal and loss get the better of him, as do the other characters. Intriguing!
Well, when I say I love it.....you will discover that it is not all light and joy. It's about a twisting, turning time in Tony D's life that grabs you by the throat and makes you cringe at what he is dealing with....as he is slowly drawn into this frenetic, twisted life....that will take him to new highs....and, of course, new lows.
Was only able to read first three chapters first thing this morning and I AM HOOKED!!! Can't wait to see where the twists and turns of this story take me! Love the details and the way you feel you are "in" the story as it develops! GREAT WRITING!!!!
Finished last night--AWESOME BOOK!! Could barely put it down--wanted to take a day PTO to finish it! I am AR born and bred, so wasn't aware of the supporting facts and the history. Kept me guessing on the "whodunits"! FANTASTIC read and phenomenal job by a wonderfully charismatic, sweetheart of a guy that has lived more life than most and makes the most of the life he lives. A definite MUST READ!!
I had no idea what I was in for when I began this book. I figured it would be another rags to riches story with a few twists to keep the reader involved. What I found was an amazing story with heart. As you follow the characters through the greed and excess of Los Angeles in the 80's, you are happy that the poor guy from The San Fernando Valley becomes a successful leader of a multi-level marketing team, until the dark side of success comes knocking at his door. I couldn't put the book down. Buzzello tells the story with heart and hutzpah that has been lacking in literature. I couldn't help but think every young person entering his career could learn a thing or two from this book.
This is a first novel where we see multi-level marketing at work from the narrator's perspective. I was in the same business as the author and can attest to the accuracy of his descriptions although, truthfully, I did not have all of the same experiences of intrigue. I did hear rumors about some of the more "borderline legal" things that were being done in some business organizations. Overall, I would recommend it to anyone who is or was involved in multi-level marketing or is thinking about getting involved. It will open your eyes!
This book kinda’ makes me wish I grew up in the San Fernando Valley in the 80s. It sounded like a ton of FUN! All kidding aside, Joe Buzzello’s story take you on an odyssey, one that starts during the summer of 1982 and ends in the summer of 2008. The writing is very solid for a first time author and the characters are ones you can relate to (especially if you’ve ever been around the game of sales) but it’s the story that gets you. Joe does an exceptional job of depicting the mental anguish people experience when they lose everything, and the decisions they make as a result of that carnage. Simply a great and well written story.
I loved this book! Having been in Network Marketing for many years and at the top of a company, it literally gave me chills at times at the accurate portrayal of reality in that world. There is good and bad in everything; unfortunately, greed is such a powerful aphrodisiac that can twist and turn people down a very dark road. The character development and style made me feel like only the names were different from so many people I knew. Awesome work by Joe Buzzello! Thank you! The beaches of the world await--
